ABOUT DOCTOR ALLIANCE
Doctor Alliance is a Texas-based vendor offering services to healthcare providers such as preparing, delivering and signing documents, verifying patient billability and tracking documents in real time, as well as integrating with electronic health records (EHRs). As a business associate under HIPAA, it holds responsibilities and liability for data privacy and security of the information it handles.
What Happened?
On November 7, 2025, a user on a hacking forum posted an offer to sell approximately 353 GB of data – comprising roughly 1,240,640 files – allegedly taken from Doctor Alliance’s systems. The seller demanded a ransom of USD $200,000 with a deadline of November 21, 2025.
The posted sample included 533 scanned images of patient files. These contained highly sensitive personal and protected health information, including names, dates of birth, addresses, phone numbers, email addresses, Medicare numbers, medical record numbers, primary and secondary diagnoses, detailed treatment plans with codes, medications and dosages, and provider information.
In communications with the website DataBreaches.net, Doctor Alliance stated it was unable to confirm whether the breach was legitimate based on the samples provided, but invited further evidence for comment.
The alleged attacker claimed to have first accessed Doctor Alliance’s systems in October 2025 and carried out the data extraction between November 4–6, 2025, exploiting an unpatched vulnerability.
According to the article, a law firm had already begun seeking class-action plaintiffs, and a federal lawsuit (Case No. 3:25-cv-03079-E, in the Northern District of Texas) had been filed against Doctor Alliance and one of its clients.
Once confirmed, notification letters will be sent to affected individuals, outlining the incident, the types of data involved, and recommended steps to monitor and protect against potential misuse of their personal information.
